Has working with other artists influenced your solo material in any significant way? For example, did your years with PT during their heavier Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet albums make you want to change direction slightly, or have you always tried to keep your own work completely unaltered by everyone elses? I ask because in either case, everything you do seems to be completely unique, which is indeed rare to see, so I wondered what your take on this was. Either way, I love it - keep it up!
No doubt that working with Ptree and Fish and the Marillion guys all were major influences. You can hear them in the work with no doubt...
Sorry it took so long to get back... got a bit overwhelmed with questions...trying to finally get through them all!
Hey John! Long time fan of all of your work, notably on Porcupine Tree. I apologize if this question has been answered a million times, but I'm interested to know:
1. What amps/cabs did you guys use on the "Deadwing" album? Was it the Marshall 6100 30th Anniversary Head + '76 Marshall Greenback cab?
2. Do you have EL34's or 6L6's in your Marshall 6100?
3. Which mode do you guys typically use the BOSS RT-20 Rotary Ensemble on?
Thanks a ton!
Are you planning a DVD?John Wesley responded on 06/08/2016
