Is there any hope to see you with or without Porcupine Tree in Brazil, next year?

John Wesley responded on 10/23/2010
A

I love Brazil, but at the moment...due to the massive cost of touring to that part of the world, there are no plans....but maybe someday...JW

Q

Hi John,

If you dont mind me asking, how did you come into the PT family? How and where did you meet SW and where was your first ever PT gig?

Thanks for your time for answering these

John Wesley responded on 10/23/2010
A

I became a fan around the time of the Sky album, eventually I met Steve through Fish, he saw me play...and when he needed a guitarist for live work we hooked up.... first gig in Boston 2002.

Q

Have you ever attended/performed at 'Experience PRS'? Unfortunately the next this year is during the Radio City gig.

I did perform there last year and loved it. This year I will sadly miss it...

Q

I know that the boys in Rush have various hobbies to keep their 'sanity' while on the road. How do you keep boredom at bay when you are touring, whether with PT or otherwise? All the best. Brent

John Wesley responded on 09/06/2010
A

Reading and Practicing are my two boredom killers. I also use the gym any time I can in every hotel that has one.

Q

Do you like the Trans Siberian Orchestra?

John Wesley responded on 09/06/2010
A

Not really on my radar...

Q

hi! john, I'm trying to understand the composing process, so I'd like to know how is your personal composing process, this is just because I think everyone has a different way and is hard for me to do

John Wesley responded on 09/06/2010
A

Listening to a lot of music is key, then just putting the time in to sit there with your instrument and just letting your fingers wander. make it easy for yourself to capture ideas...have a recorder nearby. Digital recorders are so cheap now, use them. The important thing is to put in the time. The more time you put in focused on writing, the more you will write.

Q

Hi John,

Just bought "Anesthetize" DVD. Incredible performance from you, once again I thank you.

Can you please name the PRS models you use? I play Jackson and am planning to switch,

John Wesley responded on 08/31/2010
A

My main PRS is basically a modded "Tremonti Single Cut"....I had mine built for me, but the body and neck are the same as the Tremonti, the rest are basically single cuts and Custom 22's, or MCarty archtops...just find one that fits you...they all play and sound great.
